Tears in Heaven

As he saw her pack her bags with their memories. He felt in his heart that this was love. Love which would help them stay together come what may. He looked into her eyes and he saw hope. He walked towards her and said, ' Don't worry darling, Life is a long journey and this is just the part where we both take a separate vacation'. She hugged him and sobbed. He understood. Its tough to let go after all that they had been through. She was not strong like him. She worried about them and their future. He knew he didn't have to worry. Love would conquer all, right? It brought them this far...

He held her close and told her to relax. Told her that she needed to be strong. Soon, the crying was getting uncontrollable. He got irritated. what was the big deal? One year of being away and then she was to come back. Come back so that they could be together and start their new lives. It was all fixed. What was she so worried about? She was just being dramatic. She usually was.Imagining situations that were unrealistic. He started yelling. Told her to get a hold of herself. She was just causing a scene after all. He scathingly told her that she was being nothing but a fool.

They were at the airport. Her parents were there. They said their good-byes, her father wiped his tears. Again, the drama, he thought, exasperated with all this. Finally she turned to him. He smiled at her, hoping to cheer her up and as he hugged her to say good-bye, he realized that the face he got so used to seeing wouldn't be around. He held her tight and smelled the perfume in her hair. Looked in to her tear-stained eyes which used to be filled with mischief and suddenly realized something else.

She was leaving him. She had left him a long time ago. The look in her eyes showed him someone else. Some who was tired and lifeless. Someone who was fed up with him and all that he had done to her. He hugged her that one last time and he let go; Because as it was in the beginning, Love did conquer all. Even the pain of not being together anymore.

They climbed one mountain together but while he chose to stay to enjoy the view, he let her go so that she could find a better one

Unexpected Truths

I found love in a hopeless place
in a twisted turning passage way
I found it waiting for me with a smile
It had been there all this while

In a quiet and peaceful getaway
I found that it was perfect for me
it was exactly where it needed to be

The mistakes we make as people

Are probably forgiven

But to be asked to forgotten

Is a choice that is not ours

Having given him the world

She did not know what she did wrong

But the truth was the he did

And he kept the secret for so long

She had held him close as a baby

She had held his hand as a toddler

But when he grew to be a man

He no longer wanted her

At Sea

In a corner somewhere
along the Indian coast
or in some small  island lost
without a worldly care


This is going to be my life
is a beautiful house at Sea
listening to the sound of Solidarity
and of the high tide


To feel the sand between my toes
and hear the sound of the heavy waves
with a good book to while away my days
and for the afternoons to doze

To run along the shore
and leave my foot-prints in the beach
to have good sea-food at my reach
and to taste the salt in the air

A solitary life I will lead
my only friends my dogs
and of course a lot of wines
for company I will have no need
